Bechterew’s disease. The Russian neurologist Vladimir Bechterew first described this inflammatory condition in 1892. Considered a chronic inflammatory rheumatoid condition makes it very strange that symptoms commonly present in young adults from late teens up to 30’s. Suffers of Bechterew’s disease will very likely be related to a family member who also has this disease, as it is a genetic disorder.

This is an inflammatory disease affecting primarily the intervertebral, costovertebral, and SI joints although intervertebral discs, ligamental flava (ligaments of the spine), and all other joints may also be impacted.
